Our housing system in Australia is broken, the Illawarra has more than 10,000 households living in rental stress due to sky-rocketing rents and house prices. Our front line heroes like nurses, teachers, police and aged care workers can no longer afford to live in our towns. Home4LocalHeroes is all about advocating for more Affordable Rental housing.
The buck passing between Federal, State and Local politicians has to stop. Every level government must use the strategies available to them to increase the supply of Affordable Rental housing. The alternative is to decide who is going to be left homeless.
NSW will go to the polls on 4 December to elect new Councils and we are asking all candidates to make Affordable Rental Housing their priority, join us.
